One of my favorite times each year is when the OC Fair comes around. It's always right around my birthday, which makes it extra fun. I try to go more than once. One trip with the whole family, and a date night or ladies night out without the kids. Two very different ways to enjoy the fair!
We arrived right when they open at 10:00 AM on the first Sunday of the fair. It wasn't too crowded, but if you buy your tickets and enter the fair before 11:00 AM on weekends, it's only $3.00 per ticket! (Kids 5 and under are free!)
There was barely anyone there when we got in so we made sure to take full advantage, riding rides and getting snacks quickly, where there's usually a long line. Going early definitely has some great perks!
The downside of course being that it was H-O-T outside by noon. Luckily we found a few ways to cool off. There are some shady activities like the Fun Zone tent, the covered bleachers of the All-Alaskan Pig Races, the air-conditioned Dr. Entomo's World of Anthropology, the various indoor shopping and expo areas, and of course you could always just get wet on the log ride.
Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the fair without getting some food. Right? There's always a lot to choose from. There are plenty of healthy choices, but we prefer to go the greasy route. We eat healthy a lot of time. The fair is our special chance to let loose!
We had an amazing time at the OC Fair. It gets better every year, and I can't wait to see what they have in store or us next year. And maybe I'll sneak another visit in before it ends on August 12th for those bacon-wrapped pickles.
