The Five Spot - Orange County Food Edition

My wonderful friend Liz from A Nut in a Nutshell came up with this fun idea called The Five Spot. A weekly collection of five favorite things. And well, I have a lot of favorite things, so I had to jump in on the action. Since I ate out quite a bit this week I'd thought I'd go with a theme of local eateries that I think are the bees knees.

Bruxie

I've eaten here twice in the past week! I've been a loyal fan since they opened up down the street from my house. And really, how can you not love waffle sandwiches?

Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop

As soon as I walked in to this place I was instantly a fan. I tried a few different menu items, but the breakfast pizza was my favorite. A perfectly cooked egg and so much flavor! There's also a market and a juice bar too. I wish I lived closer, but maybe it's better for my wallet that I don't.

In-N-Out

I didn't really appreciate the awesomeness of this place until more recently. It's a regular weekend lunch stop for my family, and the only "fast food" we eat. There are more locations than Orange County, but it's still pretty limited. And anytime an out of town friend visits this is a must-stop location for us!

Pieology Pizzeria

I'm actually not a huge fan of pizza. I don't mind making it at home, but when it comes to fast food pizza...bleh. Pieology is Chipotle-style ordering. You get a custom pizza that tastes amazing and it only takes a few minutes. I love making different kinds of combinations.

Pa's House

My Father-in-law makes awesome things like this delicious panna cotta with berry sauce, amazing burritos, and better meatballs than mine. Unfortunately this is strictly an invite-only venue. ;)

That's it for this week's Five Spot. I'm looking forward to making a new one!

Do you have any favorite eateries in Orange County?

I'm surprised you didn't share Angelo's! I do love some In N Out and Pieology is on our list - looks so good! I've been seeing all of your Instagrams lol And I have never tried panna cotta :(

Xenia, I've never been to Angelo's if you can believe that! I wanted to add Albatros - they have the best California burrito out of all the places I've tried - but I didn't have a picture for it. I always scarf it down before I think to snap a pic!

It's not quite local, but what about Philippe's in downtown LA; close to Union Station? We make it a special day trip down there on the train, hang a bit at Olvera Street and then on to Philippe's. LOVE the french dip with their own Hot Mustard!
