The Odd Life of Timothy Green comes out on DVD and Blu-ray today. Described as "one of the year’s most uplifting and enchanting family films," the movie follows a couple who are unable to have a child. Stricken by grief after they find this out, they begin to write down all the qualities their child would have had so that they can move on with their lives. What follows is both extraordinary and heartwarming.
When I first heard about this movie, I wasn't sure what to think - although I sort of had an idea in mind of how it would be. I really love Jennifer Garner and she always plays an amazing mother in films, so I wanted to check it out.
I have to say that it was everything I expected and more. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say this: The Odd Life of Timothy green will delight you in ways you'll never expect. It's both happy and sad, and when it's over you'll be glad you watched it. However, keep in mind that there is the aspect of dying in this movie, and if you haven't already talked about that with your children, you may want to prepare them for that.
If you do decide to watch it with the kiddos - which I recommend if they're old enough to understand - here's some great crafts to do before and after the movie:
Have a special movie and craft date night with your family. Take time to focus on what this movie really teaches us: To be thankful for the wonderful gifts we have in life.
