Reinforcing learning at home with #CypherKidsClub

I'm definitely not new to the world of Augmented Reality Apps. I use them often for both entertainment and learning purposes. I look for teaching moments in our every day life. At the store, in the kitchen, on vacation, and yes - even on my iPhone and iPad.

Recently we were given an opportunity to try out an interactive card and app system from Cypher Kids Club. I chose the Letters set to help my middle child, Jackson, who is currently working on learning his letters in preschool. At his age he knows his alphabet, and recognizes certain letters, but not all of them.

I ordered the cards online from the Apple Store website. It was quick and easy, and best of all the shipping was free. For a long time I wouldn't shop for things online because I hated paying shipping prices. I was able to get the cards at the same price I'd find them in the store without having to leave the house, and they were on my doorstep in two days.

Although I intended to use them with my almost-four-year-old, Jackson, my oldest enjoyed playing with them as well. He's 6, and can read somewhat. But that doesn't made the cards any less fun. He loved watching the letters come to life, and playing along with them.

Here he is checking out the Zz card. The letters come to life, making their sound somewhat repetitively which is great for little ones who are just learning. Then you get to press a button to transform your letters into an interactive item. For the Z, it was a zipper that you could zip up and down with your finger. You can see it in action on our video below.

        Once we got the hang of it, there was no need for my help anymore. The boys actually took turns sharing the cards and iPad with each other. I'm glad I only bought one set of learning cards, because I think I have a good idea of what to put under the Christmas tree set for them. I just hope they'll continue to share them so nicely!
