I used to be a fashion-over-function kind of girl. When I upgraded my iPhone to the 4 last year, I went out and bought the cutest silicone Hello Kitty case for it. (Yes, I am a teenage girl at heart.) A few short weeks after getting my pretty new white phone I was playing with it and it slipped out of the case, falling onto the sidewalk on completely shattering the back of it. That day I headed to the mall and bought a hard case from one of the kiosks - and got a new back plate for the phone too.

Fast forward a few months, and my phone is holding up pretty well. That case I bought is pretty chewed up from hitting the ground. I have to admit, every time I would drop my phone - and I drop it several times a day, no joke - I would pick it up half-expecting it to be broken. I know a few family members of mine that I'm going to pick one up for. Surprisingly, I'm not the clumsiest person in my family!

I guess I kind of have a thing for the color pink, because I was really digging this Commuter Series case I found at Walmart. And for only $34.88, you can protect your phone for a reasonable price. (And I can't help but love that a portion of the proceeds go to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade fund.)

Check out how my new case measures up to the old one. The Otterbox is definitely bigger, but I didn't find it to be too much heavier, and it still feels great in my hand - not too bulky. I've already dropped my phone several times and didn't even flinch. I knew the Otterbox was doing its job. And check out how messed up the bottom of my old case is. I wasn't kidding about how much I drop my phone.
