The Glasses Repair-Man

Take a good hard look at those eyeglasses in the picture. They look pretty normal, right? Well, if you knew my husband you would know that he does not have the best track record with his glasses. Now, I don't think he's ever lost a pair, but he sure does know how to break them. It's one of the reasons I tend to steer away from buying designer glasses for him.

The most recent time, and kind of a funny story, was on Christmas Day. His big gift from me was a new bicycle, and he excitedly took it for a spin around the neighborhood. After a few minutes I went outside to wait for him and see how he liked it. He rolled back up to the house with his glasses all askew. During his test ride, he rode right up to a branch that smacked them right off of his face! A little piece came off of the side of the glasses when he hit the branch, making the arm go out too far and they wouldn't stay on his face anymore.

He needs those suckers to drive, but it being Christmas Day we couldn't just go out and buy glasses at the eyeglasses store. He had to get a little creative if he wanted them to stay put. Look at them again from another angle...



That's glue! He asked me for my hot glue gun and proceeded to glue a little strip to one side of the hinge so that the glasses would open further than they needed to. I have to admit, it's a pretty great quick fix, and not nearly as noticeable as some tape or something. (Yes he has fixed a pair of glasses with tape before.) It certainly does the job until we can buy eyeglasses online.
