When I was younger, I taught my younger siblings to tie their shoes. It was no problem for me at all. But for some reason I am not having the same luck with my own child. It may be that Mason doesn't quite have the coordination yet, or that I don't have the same level of patience that I did so many years ago. Either way, it can be a bit frustrating for all of us.
Enter Tie Buddies.

Tie Buddies was invented by Wendy, a mother who, much like me, was frustrated with the traditional methods of learning to tie shoes and knew there had to be a better way. Wendy spent months fiddling with prototypes and ideas until finally perfecting Tie Buddies™. The key was to create cool characters and interactive stories that help the child learn and retain the process and as well as eliminating the frustrating ‘bunny ears or loops’ that just confuse children as they learn.
We had the opportunity to try out the Race Car Tie Buddies. Check out the cool story we got from the Tie Buddies site:
Ready to race?Your starting knot is the
Tie Buddies’ starting
line. Ready, set go! The
red card speeds out
around the green car
and goes into the pit
for a tire change! Who
wins? You!
For girls there is a Fairy and Magic Wand set, and you can find the story on the Story Ideas Page.
The first step was for me to learn how to use the Tie Buddies so that I could in turn teach it to Mason. I went to the How it Works page to find out what to do. Once I had it down pat, I added it the story and off we went!
While Mason still isn't one hundred percent able to tie his shoes by himself, he's showing some great improvement! I am looking forward to the day that he becomes a tying machine.
Buy it!
Tie Buddies are only $8.99 each, plus S&H.
Win it!
One lucky winner will get the Tie Buddy set of their choice!

These are awesome! Can't wait to check them out.
Visiting from SITS.
It's an interesting idea. Learning to tie shoes is very frustrating. My little guy likes his velcroe, but he's only three. Tie-up shoes will come soon enough.
