SnackTAXI review and giveaway!

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*

Continuing on in my quest for safe, reusable and eco-friendly products, I bring you SnackTAXI. First, let me give you a little background information from the owner and inventor, Erin Kelly-Dill.

I invented snackTAXIs way back in 2003 as a way to stem the tide of plastic ziplock bags that flowed from our house to the landfill when our 3 kids started school! We pack over 500 lunches every year, and had definitely fallen prey to the easy appeal of the ziplock bag.

snackTAXIs are easy too- really! They are made in our home-based workshop by talented (and fun!) local sewers- we are committed to keeping our business local, and will never outsource our labor.

We hope you'll enjoy using snackTAXIs as much as we enjoy making them!

Plastic baggies average about $.04 a pop. If you packed 180 lunches a year, with an average of three baggies per lunch, you are spending over $21 a year on baggies alone. If you have more than one child to pack lunch for, add another $21 for each one. Not to mention the amount of waste that 540 baggies per child makes.

I also think that it's much more exciting to open a lunchbox and see brightly colored baggies in there. Just look at some of the fun designs they have:

Which would you rather see?

079

They also offer the most adorable cloth napkins, too. They are large and sturdy, just perfect for those messy little hands!

SnackTAXI snack bags can go beyond the lunch box, too. Use them in the diaper bag! Look how easy it is for a one year old with bed-head to use a snack sack.

081

After they've run their course holding food, the snack sack and sandwich sack would be great at helping hold crayons and markers, or maybe little craft doo-dads as well.

SnackTAXI also makes a bulk/produce sack, which I was very excited to try.

I try my best when buying produce to not use the produce bags. Sometimes I can see the annoyance on a cashiers face when they're trying to get five onions to stop rolling off of the scale so they can charge me them. If I remember, I'll bring my used plastic produce baggies back to the store to reduce my waste. Eventually, they rip (and it usually happens the first time) and I have to throw them out. (In the recycling bin, of course!) I've always loved the idea of reusable produce and bulk bags, and I'm sure that the cashiers will appreciate it as well.

Buy it!
You can buy all the products mentioned, and more, right on the SnackTAXI site! Snack Sacks are $6.95 with quite a few select styles on sale for $4.95, Sandwich Sacks are $8.95 with select styles on sale for $6.95, Napkins are only $3.95, and Bulk/Produce Sacks are $5.95.

Win it!
One lucky winner will get a Napkin and Sandwich Sack, of SnackTAXI's choice!

These are so cute and eco-friendly! what a great idea. One concern is the washing if you put something sticky in it, but for basic snack items, it looks great!
I'd love to buy the snack sack in the cuppatea pattern. so adorable. i'd buy them for myself when I bring lunch or just to keep a snack in my bag!

I love every single thing they make! I suppose I'd most like to have something like the luna moth raspberry napkin. I am pretty good about putting things in reusable containers, but I still use paper napkins in my daughter's lunch. Bad mommy! Thanks for the great givaway!

I'd love to get the taxi check in Clementine for my fiancee. He loves orange and is also always trying to be as eco friendly as he can. I've been reusing our old Ziploc bags (they've held up pretty well so far) but I'd rather have cloth for when they wear out.

I love the pattern on the Calaveras sandwich sack. I am a huge user of eco friendly packaging and we have not used ONE plastic baggie in lunches all year so far for school. My daughter and I made a vow that we wouldn't even when all the sandwich sacks we have are in the wash. (the ones I have I can wash inside out in the washer) Love love these ideas!
