We took Mason to the DR today. He got blood taken and a chest X-ray. Poor guy! When the lab tech stuck him, Mason said "Ow, that hurt!" but he did not cry. I'm proud of him. Now we just have to wait for the results.
In the mean time, we were told to get rid of his entire bed, the carpet (duh), and any stuffed animals that were in that area. And get a HEPA filter. I sure hope the apartment complex will be paying for this as his bed was $350 and we just bought it in freaking JANUARY.
This beyond sucks right now and I just want to scream at the top of my lungs. My husband contacted a friend of his from high school that is now a lawyer. Why are we taking it this far? I'm glad you asked! Let me tell you.
1. We are the 16th slab leak that the complex has had THIS YEAR. You would think after 5 of them, they would make a point to inspect the rest of the apartments. Be a little proactive, maybe? Not let it get so bad as to possibly endanger someone's health? At the very least they could send out a notice saying "Hey, if you have a hot spot on your floor, or a sudden spike in your gas bill, let us know!"
2. This was the 4th slab leak IN THAT ROOM. Hello? Maybe they should have just replaced all the dang pipes after it happened more than once!
I feel bad, because the maintenance crew are awesome. They always arrive really quickly if there's a problem, and fix it right away. They are respectful and friendly and clean. However, I think the issue lies with the complex management. If something is wrong (like a slab leak) they are only going to fix the problem, and nothing more. They will do the least amount necessary. They had people come in and just clean the carpet, instead of replacing it. (Well, we'll see about that, there's freaking mold under it!) I am paying a ridiculous amount of money for a safe place to live, they should be taking care of it.
We were saving up to move into a house in August, and now I highly doubt we'll be able to. The candle on the cake is when I was washing the stoneware for my crock pot, I noticed a HUGE crack through it. Awesome. I know it's not the biggest deal ever, but it nearly put me in tears.
On the bright side, I lost 8 pounds last week. I'll probably gain it back from the stress this week, though.
P.S. Thank you for all the nice comments on my last post. I will be doing my best to return the favor, but bear with me if it takes a while!

Well I'm hoping for good results from those tests. Sounds like the management is really lacking!
I'm sure the crack in your crockpot was like the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm really hoping your lawyer friend can help. Maybe some of your neighbors might rally together for additional support?
Oh no...I just caught up with your previous post. I really hope things work out for you. Fingers crossed on the tests...
1st-congrats on the weight lost!!! That is fabulous!
I would be just as upset as you right now. That whole situation is ridiculous!! I hope your lawyer friend can help.
Hope all the results from the blood test come back ok!
I hope everything is a-ok with the test results and I am so glad to hear he was such a big boy through the poking.
No apologies needed for finding a lawyer. They should have gotten the hint back at slab leek number two. I wish you all the best in recovering every dime you spend to fix this issue (if you need to take out of your pocket) and a little more to get you out of there and into someplace safe.
Keep updating with the news, I look forward to seeing how it all pans out.
Wow, that sounds terrible!
And how the heck did you lose eight pounds in one week? I need to know! LOL!
I hope everything works out. We used to live in a apartment and the management was a problem their also. Only fixed what was necessary never anything more. I know it is a business but we are talking about people's homes WTF. Sorry, I just hate to see nice people like yourselves have to go thru crap like this. I remember one time when we can home from a weeks summer vacation the maintaince men were in out apartment and when we asked why they said a bathroom pipe burst flooding my daughters room ruining everything. Thank God we had renters insurance and always did for this kind of thing. Best $300 bucks we ever spent.
I have faith the test results will be good. I am praying for you all.
Congrats on the 8 pound losss. I am forever trying to lose weight. The most I lose in a week is 3 pounds.
Oh, I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there before, when things just start to add up and then BAM! one little thing brings you to tears. I wish you the best.
