I can tell you from experience that Urinary Tract Infections are not fun. They are painful and uncomfortable, and they make your life miserable. When I've had them, every day tasks like going to work or sitting on the couch were almost unbearable. I am not alone, because 6 out of 10 women reported having a UTI at some point in their life. Some people are prone to them, and often have recurring infections, while others may get it once in their entire life.

If I feel the twinge coming on, I usually down as many glasses of cranberry juice as I can handle. If that doesn't work, it's off to the drug store for some Uristat. By then, I'm very uncomfortable, and it takes a a day or two to kick in. I wish I had known about Cystex® before.

Here's a little info about Cystex®:
Unlike other drug store medicines, Cystex® helps to relieve the pain and burning associated with a urinary tract infection (UTI) while also inhibiting the progression of the infection with an antibacterial. It is the only OTC urinary pain relief medicine to combine a key pain-fighting analgesic, sodium salicylate, with an effective antibacterial agent, methenamine, to help stop the pain and progression of a UTI. Additionally, Cystex® will not change the color of the urine as some other OTC medications will.

Not only is Cystex® used to help treat the pain, burning and progression of an existing UTI, but some doctors believe it can also be an excellent preventative therapy for those who suffer from recurring UTIs. Recurrent infection sufferers should speak to their health care providers to determine if Cystex®, when taken as a preventative, is right for them.

Thankfully, I haven't needed to try this product. However, you can purchase it in most drugstores, or online at the Cystex® website or Drugstore.com. This product is not intended as a replacement for your doctor, it merely controls the infection until you can get to one.
